Job summary

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited institution.
• One year of related experience in a medical office or correctional healthcare setting.
• BLS Certification prior to the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessments, gathers patient history and assists with medical examinations.
• Performs vital signs measurements including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, and pulse; collects specimens as ordered.
• Assists with basic clinical tasks and supports other areas to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments as appropriate.
• Administers medications as directed by healthcare providers.
• Provides basic wound care and routine blood drawing procedures.
• Performs clinical procedures including EKGs, PPDs, glucose monitoring, venipuncture and routine treatments.
• Transcribes medical orders and enters data into the EHR system.
• Maintains and organizes patient health records and medical documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH's goals, objectives and values.
