Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant for primary care. The role focuses on supporting physicians and nurses, managing patient flow, and maintaining sterile, organized exam rooms while delivering compassionate patient care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, BLS/CPR certification, and CMA eligibility with certification within six months. Training on EMR systems and a strong team approach are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Within six months, must obtain CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or NRCMA certification.
• BLS/CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures efficient patient flow and prepares patients for examination.
• Assists practitioners with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations and related tasks.
• Maintains exam rooms, inventory and safety procedures.
• Interacts professionally with patients and care team to support quality care.
• Performs delegated procedures as appropriate to the specialty.
• Supports supervisor/manager with additional duties.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) eligibility / CMA certification within 6 months

American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification
