Position: Medical Assistant at UPMC's main ENT office in Oakland

Hours: Monday through Friday, primarily daylight hours. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required. Responsibilities include back and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on their experience and education, following the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Responsibilities:
  1. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, complete forms, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage charts.
  3. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, clean and maintain infection control, manage inventory of supplies.
  4. Organize patient flow, assist patients with transfers, specimens, and prepare for exams. Collect patient information, take vitals, perform screenings, and relay instructions.
  5. Answer calls, provide information, and patient education as directed.
  6. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, labs, assist with procedures, and document patient information.
  7. Comply with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality.
  8. Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision.
