Job Title: Medical Assistant at UPMC

Position Overview: UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant for our main ENT office in Oakland. The hours are Monday through Friday, primarily during daylight hours, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required. The role involves both back office and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Handling patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information; completing forms; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance and patient details; managing and filing charts.
  3. Preparing patient rooms, setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning, maintaining infection control, and managing supplies.
  4. Organizing patient flow, assisting patients with procedures, collecting patient information, vital signs, and performing screenings.
  5. Answering calls, providing information, and patient education as directed.
  6. Performing phlebotomy, EKGs, lab procedures, assisting physicians, and documenting patient data.
  7. Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and maintaining confidentiality.
  8. Administering injectable medications and vaccines under supervision when appropriate.
