Virginia Heart in Northern Virginia is seeking friendly, dependable Medical Assistants for outpatient cardiology settings. You will perform day-to-day clinical and administrative support, manage EMR data, take vitals, and assist clinicians while delivering compassionate patient care.

Ideal candidates have CMA certification or excited to obtain it, with high school diploma, strong communication and computer skills, and EMR experience. Competitive benefits and professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a medical office with both administrative and clinical duties.
• Computer literate with ability to learn EMR systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
• Prior experience with EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports clinical and office staff by performing clinical administrative tasks such as phone screening, appointment confirmation calls, orders management, and data entry into the EMR.
• Create and/or update patient demographic and clinical information in the EMR as needed.
• Take patients from waiting room, perform vitals, and prepare them for provider visits, updating medical history in intake.
• Assist providers and clinicians with patients in the office, including chart preparation.
• Gather documents and signatures to assist clinicians in making treatment decisions.
• Provide patient education and assist with clinical questions as needed.
• Notify patients of test results per protocol as needed.
• Provide professional and efficient telephone services to patients and Virginia Heart staff; transfer/handle calls as appropriate.
• Provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Work as part of the resuscitative team in emergencies within scope of training.
• Know location of medical supplies and emergency cart and proper operation of emergency equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clinical Chart Preparation
• Gather appropriate documents and signatures necessary to assist the clinician in making treatment decision.
• Provides patient education and assists patients with clinical questions as needed and appropriate.
• Notifies patients of test results per protocol as needed.
• Provides professional and efficient telephone services to patients and Virginia Heart staff and transfers/handles calls as appropriate.
• Provides a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Works as a resuscitative team member in emergency situations within their level of expertise and training.
• The medical assistant is responsible for knowing the location of the medical supplies and medication on the emergency cart and the proper operation of emergency equipment within their scope.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Medical Assistant Certification Preferred
• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a medical office with both administrative and clinical experience required
• Computer Literate
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
