$1,000 Sign-On Bonus

Recipient must stay with AHN for a minimum of 1 year

Re-Hires may not have worked for AHN within the previous 12 months to qualify

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the health care team, assists in coordinating the examination, treatment, and health care planning for patients. Assists with other office functions to support patient care and office operations. Follows all established protocols, policies, procedures, and standardized workflows.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider, using a team-based approach.
  2. Prepare and room patients according to standardized workflows. Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, tobacco and medication screening. Assist with depression screening tools and annual wellness visits. Review and update medication lists and social history in the EHR. Pend or cue up orders for screenings, prescriptions, and refills based on protocols.
  3. Perform back-office testing following approved protocols and policies.
  4. Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  5. Serve as a scribe with additional training if applicable.
  6. Follow up with patients via preferred method, notify patients of test results under provider direction.
  7. Prepare exam rooms, ensure adequate inventory of supplies, and maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments.
  8. Perform lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
  9. Administer medications and document accurately according to policies.
  10. Document all activities accurately in the EHR following established standards.
  11. Perform clerical and other duties as assigned, may require floating between locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

  • High School / GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant or relevant patient care experience (vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, EKGs)
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34, Act 33, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearances

Certification Requirements:

  • Graduated from a medical assistant program within five years OR have one year of recent work experience as a medical assistant. Must complete certification training/testing within 30 days of hire and obtain certification within 120 days.
  • Accepted certifications include NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.

Employees not meeting these criteria may have the opportunity to sit for a company proctored exam when qualified.

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree
