Job summary

The Valley Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time, day-shift position with comprehensive benefits. The role involves assisting physicians with patient care, taking vitals, venipuncture, and helping in both clinical and front-d desk tasks.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology and a valid MA program certificate are required. Applicants should have current BLS/CPR certification and may have up to one year of MA experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol).

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of patient care duties under physician direction.
• Interviews patients and measures vital signs (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height).
• Venipuncture and related procedures as directed by the physician.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination and assists in covering the front desk as needed.
• Distributes referrals and documents referral requests/responses in patient charts.
• Pre-authorizes prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
• Triages patients and assists in preparing them for physician exams.
