Job summary

UFJPI in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Medical Assistant to support administrative and clinical tasks under a licensed physician's supervision.

Must have CMA certification or eligible within 6 months, BLS at hire, and a high school diploma. Prior medical office experience is preferred.

You will take vital signs, prepare patients for visits, document records, assist with examinations, collect specimens, and contribute to a collaborative care team with excellent patient service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office is an asset.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician

Responsibilities

Job Requirement:

• Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider's care. Assist with patient examinations or treatments
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time.
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collectroutine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Participates in performance improvement projects.
• Participates as an active care team member in thecoordination of patient care.
• Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customerservice for patients, staff members, and other customers

Qualifications

Qualification:

ExperienceRequirements:

• 1-year - Medical assistant – preferred
• 2– 4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry -preferred
• 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data andreviewing - preferred

Certification/LicensureRequirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire-American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire

Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency
