Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to keep the clinic running smoothly. You will prepare patient charts, collect vital signs and histories, and assist with exams and mobility as needed.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab work, and medication administration under provider supervision. You will coordinate orders, results, and referrals while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification WA required.
• CPR certification (AHA) required.

Responsibilities

• Update EMR with patient history, diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-up info.
• Coordinate orders, test results, referrals, and scheduling with providers.
• Maintain clinic operations; sterilize instruments, stock rooms, and manage patient flow.
• Provide patient and administrative support including insurance verification and billing basics.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

• Prepare and room patients by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and presenting concerns; assist with examinations and patient mobility as needed.
• Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, EKGs, basic laboratory testing, and administration of approved medications under provider supervision.
• Support accurate clinical documentation by updating electronic medical records, entering patient history, diagnoses, prescriptions, education, referrals, and follow-up instructions, while reviewing records for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with orders, test results, and referrals by pending laboratory and radiology orders for provider approval, reviewing clinical data, communicating results as directed, and coordinating referrals and appointments.
• Maintain efficient clinic operations by coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, preparing and sterilizing instruments, keeping exam rooms clean and stocked, and maintaining adequate supplies and equipment.
• Provide exceptional patient and administrative support through clear telephone communication, patient education, insurance verification, registration, billing and collection duties as needed, while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to legal and ethical standards.
