Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to help keep the day-to-day workflow smooth for patients and the clinical team. You will lead in preparing patient charts, obtaining information, and supporting examinations and patient mobility.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab work, documenting encounters, updating EMRs, scheduling, coordinating care, and maintaining a safe, compliant environment with efficient supply management and patient education.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• MA certification for WA and CPR/BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients; collect vitals and med history.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab work, and meds administration.
• Document encounters and update EMR; ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
• Schedule appointments, referrals, and coordinate care across departments.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments; manage exam rooms and supplies.
• Provide patient education and handle calls, registrations, and payments.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

• Patient Intake & Clinical Support Greet and prepare patients, collect vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and assist with examinations and patient mobility.
• Clinical Procedures & Testing Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, basic laboratory procedures, administer approved medications, communicate lab results, and support diagnostic testing.
• Medical Documentation & Record Management Document patient encounters, update electronic medical records, review records for accuracy, and ensure compliance with legal and confidentiality requirements.
• Care Coordination & Scheduling Schedule appointments, diagnostic services, referrals, and coordinate patient flow and follow-up care across departments and providers.
• Clinic Operations & Inventory Management Prepare and sterilize instruments, maintain exam rooms, manage supplies and equipment, and ensure a safe, organized clinical environment.
• Patient Communication & Administrative Support Provide patient education, handle telephone communications, verify insurance, process registrations, collect payments, and resolve routine issues while escalating concerns as needed.

$26.45 - $37.10 /hour
