Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• Phlebotomy certificate preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate the needs of the clinician and carry out orders.
• Check EHR for patients' arrival status and escort patients from waiting area to exam rooms.
• Obtain, record, and report vital signs and other pertinent patient information for the RN, LVN, or clinician.
• Assist clinician with procedures.
• Maintain and clean exam/treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment.
• Instruct patient on lab, radiology, and other procedure/testing preparations.

Job description

The Medical Assistant (MA) is part of a team concept for the delivery of patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting with an emphasis on disease prevention and health maintenance. This individual will work closely with the clinical staff, front desk personnel and other related departments. MA's assist in caring for the patient from a variety of ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, under the direction of physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff. MA is responsible for performing assigned duties within his/her capabilities and scope of practice.
