Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and keep daily operations smooth for patients and the care team. You will proactively prepare patient charts, ensuring information is up to date for those seen in our facility.

You will greet patients, obtain vital signs, record allergies and medications, assist during examinations, perform basic lab work, phlebotomy, and EKGs, and administer approved medications under provider supervision.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED upon hire.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant certification program or validation of equivalent military training.
• Medical Assistant Certification: WA
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR

Responsibilities

• Greets and prepares patients for practitioner visit.
• Obtains and records vital signs and other information (height, weight, allergies, medications, presenting problems).
• Positions, drapes and cleans up after examinations under Provider supervision.
• Provides patient mobility assistance as necessary.
• Performs basic lab and phlebotomy procedures, draws blood and performs EKGs, and administers medications under supervision.
• May pend orders for laboratory testing and radiology studies for provider sign-off.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Medical Assistant, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

• Greets and prepares patients for practitioner visit;
• Obtains and records vital signs and other appropriate information such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problems;
• Positions, drapes and cleans up after examinations under Provider supervision;
• Provides patient mobility assistance as necessary.
• Performs basic lab and phlebotomy procedures, draws blood and performs EKG's and laboratory procedures, administers approved medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular or intradermal routes, informs patients of lab results, and mails reports to patients, under the supervision of provider.
• May “pend” orders which include laboratory testing and radiology studies for provider sign-off.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate General Studies, or
• High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
• Other completion of a Medical Assistant certification program at an accredited institution or validation of equivalent military training (i.e. Hospital Corpsman) that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
• Medical Assistant Certification: WA
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR

Preferred

• One year of work experience as a Medical Assistant
