Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of MA certification or formal MA program or equivalent training.
  • WA State MA credential within required timeframe and active status.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Experience in primary care, oncology, hospice, geriatrics, internal medicine, or palliative care preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC or electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support palliative care providers with patient visits, charting, and care coordination.
  • Room patients, obtain vitals, reconcile meds, and prepare charts for visits.
  • Assist with symptom management workflows and follow-up communications.
  • Coordinate referrals, imaging, labs, and specialty appointments as needed.
  • Be a compassionate point of contact for patients, families, and caregivers.

Job description

Palliative Care Medical Assistant will support in-person and virtual patient visits with a unique opportunity to participate in more comprehensive and detailed visits. If you're passionate about improving quality of life through compassionate, whole-person care, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while working alongside a collaborative and mission-driven care team. *EMT and CNA welcome to apply. Expectation to receive onsite training and obtain WA State MA-R credential. This role plays a vital role in supporting patients with serious or chronic illness by providing compassionate, patient-centered care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary palliative care team. This role focuses on creating a supportive experience for patients and families while assisting providers with clinical workflows, coordination of care, and communication across the continuum of care. This role will also support Geriatric patients. Pay range starts at $20.59/hour, actual rate commensurate with experience and licensure/certifications.

Responsibilities
  • Support palliative care providers with patient visits, clinical documentation, and care coordination
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, and prepare charts for visits
  • Assist with symptom management workflows and patient follow-up communications
  • Coordinate referrals, imaging, lab work, and specialty appointments as needed
  • Serve as a compassionate point of contact for patients, families, caregivers, and community partners creating a calm, respectful, and supportive environment
  • Support advanced care planning discussions through preparation of documentation and patient resources
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Required completion of one of the following: Combination of experience and training resulting in a nationally recognized MA certification or completion of a formal MA program or formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces or *EMT training and certification or current Washington State Nursing Assistant-Certification.
  • Must obtain Washington State Medical Assistant credential within required timeframe and maintain in active status throughout employment.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS required
  • Previous experience in primary care, oncology, hospice, geriatrics, internal medicine, or palliative care preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations compassionately
  • Experience with EPIC or electronic medical records preferred

Pay Range: $20.19 - $28.27
