The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. MA will support providers and patients through various tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Responsibilities include pre-registering and scheduling procedures, coordinating resources, and performing duties related to prior authorization, referrals, estimates, and payments.

  • Rooming patients, collecting data, taking vitals, entering data into EMR
  • Pre-visit planning by reviewing patient charts, recent tests, and correspondence
  • Assisting physicians with patient setup and preparations
  • Compiling and summarizing information for care providers
  • Triaging incoming calls
  • Preparing and administering medications with physician authorization
  • Completing medical forms, obtaining referrals/authorizations
  • Retrieving lab and x-ray reports
  • Calling in prescriptions
  • Providing patient education on diagnosis, medication, home care, and diet
  • Ordering supplies, cleaning, and stocking exam rooms
  • Cleaning instruments and disposing of biohazard waste per OSHA standards

Other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Two years of related customer-facing experience required.

Licensure/Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to interact successfully with the public, perform under deadlines, maintain composure in high-stress situations, demonstrate high interpersonal skills, and perform with accuracy and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: Light physical activity including standing, sitting, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
