Job summary

Tidelands Health is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant I to join a busy clinic in Georgetown, SC. The MA will support nurses and physicians, perform routine patient care tasks, and help ensure smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, medication administration with physician authorization, and patient education. Strong customer service and CPR/BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related customer-facing experience required
• Healthcare experience preferred
• CPR/BLS certification required

Responsibilities

• Accompany patients to exam rooms and prepare for exams
• Perform and document vital signs
• Assist with procedures
• Prepare and administer medications with physician’s authorization
• Perform EKGs
• Apply CPR as needed
• Draw blood
• Provide patient education on office policies, medications, disease management, home care and diets
• Stock exam rooms and maintain cleanliness per OSHA, with compliant documentation
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and regulations

A Brief Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Medical Assistant, Certified performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.

What you will do

• Accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams
• Performing and documenting vital signs
• Assisting with procedures
• Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
• Performing EKGs
• Using CPR skills when required
• Drawing blood
• providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
• Responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
• Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related customer facing experience Required
• healthcare experience Preferred

• Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
