Job summary

Job Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to x-ray and exam rooms, monitor patient flow, assist physicians with minor clinical procedures including staple removal, suture removal, wound care, casting, and splinting.
  • Track and manage supply utilization, stock exam rooms, and order supplies as needed.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests, review and code charge slips, and submit insurance claims.
  • Handle patient communications, including returning calls and coordinating with other care providers.
  • Perform clerical duties and work collaboratively with any physician in the department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Specialized/technical training from an accredited Orthopedic Program.
  • 6-12 months of experience, including at least 6 months of casting experience in an acute care setting.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program.
  • One year of experience as a medical assistant in an acute care setting.
  • Spanish language skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with relevant software.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) or Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT).

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20, based on various factors such as experience and responsibilities.
