The Medical Assistant (MA) performs clinical duties and some administrative functions under the direction of medical group providers, including preparing patients for examination, taking and recording vital signs, patient histories, and assisting with procedures. This position involves prescription refill and pre-authorization tasks.
Requirements: Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients of various age groups. Models sensitivity to patients, including effective telephone and verbal communication in emergency situations. Demonstrates good oral and written skills. Must pass all competencies related to Medical Assistant duties. Maintains current knowledge and skills in patient care from neonate to geriatric. Possesses excellent customer relations skills, avoiding conflicts and undue anxiety. Must have keyboard/computer skills. CPR certification required within 90 days of employment. Role involves electronic prescription refills and prior authorizations to support provider tasks and patient communications.
Preferred (not required): Medical Assistant certification, LPN, Pharmacy Tech, Emergency Medical Technician certification, or current Certified Nursing Assistant.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Hourly rates range from $19.16 to $27.77. Exempt positions are paid within the stated salary range, with potential variations based on specialty. Non-exempt positions may include shift differentials and overtime, if applicable.
