The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with shifts between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of direct MA experience, a High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred.
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1–2 years required.
  • BLS Certification; CMA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take and document vital signs, weight, and height; record in patient chart.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and explain treatment procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow; answer phones and handle basic front-office tasks.
  • Collect blood and other specimens; perform phlebotomy if competent; prepare samples for testing.
  • Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates; administer vaccines when certified.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of junior Medical Assistants; support clinic team.

The Atwood Health Center is a multi-specialty medical office building offering a variety of Cooley Dickinson services and serving as a one-stop health and wellness destination. The practice will deliver fully integrated cardiac evaluation and treatment, including but not limited to cardiac and vascular intervention, electrophysiology, heart failure management, valvular heart disease, peripheral artery disease, and a Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. We are seeking a 40-hour Full-time Medical Assistant to support our Cardiology practice onsite Monday- Friday. We are open 8:00-am-5:00pm so shifts time are flexible within that time frame! Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.**Qualifications**Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
