Job Summary

The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system‑led operating entity that delivers high‑quality, low‑cost, innovative community‑based ambulatory care. The group offers primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, urgent care, outpatient surgery, endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion services in both digital and physical settings. This full‑time, 40‑hour Medical Assistant position is located at 19 Old Rollinsford Road, Dover, NH 03820, and operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with clinical and non‑clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, interacting with patients to ensure comfort, and collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions
  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day‑to‑day questions and responsibilities, helping facilitate their learning through onboarding training.
  • Shows patients to examination rooms, prepares necessary equipment for healthcare providers, interviews patients to obtain medical information, measures vital signs, weight, and height, and records information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, and orders and organizes educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Performs general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, completing insurance forms, and acting as a liaison with other departments while advocating for patients with a positive customer‑service approach.
  • Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs them, and prepares them for testing; performs phlebotomy when competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) requiring certification or three years of experience administering a vaccine under provider supervision.
  • Participates in departmental quality initiatives, including adherence to two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.

Licenses and Credentials

Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) – preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) – preferred.

Experience

Direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work of 1–2 years required.

  • Compliance with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.

  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  • Logical reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
