Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery in Bethlehem, PA. You will work under supervision to prepare patients, collect histories, perform rooming and basic lab tasks, and assist with front-office duties.

The role requires a specialized Medical Assistant diploma, comfort with change, initiative, and strong computer skills including EMR and Excel. Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm, with BLS certification within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant.
• Ability to accept and adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting.
• Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.
• Performs medical history collection and medication refill, per protocol.
• Collects and prepares lab specimens/lab requisitions accurately and schedules and obtains authorizations for referrals and/or procedures.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider upon recognition.
• Adheres to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows.
• Performs clerical duties and provides front office support duties such as greeting and welcoming patients and providing excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone.
• Collects co-payments, schedules appointments, updates missing patient demographics, obtains referrals and pre-certifications.
