Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join the Cancer Care team. You will support patients along their cancer journey and hematologic care, collaborating with oncologists, nurses, and advanced practice providers to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.

Position is full-time (40 hours/week) with sign-on bonuses: $4,000 for 0–1 year experience and $5,000 for 1+ year experience. Per diem is ineligible. Questions to [e-mail].

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred; one of the following: 160 hours clinical in Medical Assisting; or 6 months clinical in Adult Education MA program; or 1 year clinical in multi-provider practice.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT; BLS current or within 30 days; NH licenses required for NH locations.
• Experience: Six months MA or one year MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
• Additional Skills/Requirements: N/A

Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
2. License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Fully remote care team members are exempt from BLS certification requirement. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
3. Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.
