Job Summary:

Under direct supervision and within the established scope of practice, assists in providing direct patient care by performing routine procedures, technical, and supportive functions in a medical office or clinic setting.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
2. Performs routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed healthcare providers, following established protocols, policies, and procedures within the defined scope of education, training, and responsibilities.
3. Assists assigned physicians and other healthcare professionals.
4. Performs routine clerical functions such as making appointments, managing charts, and handling telephone calls.
5. Prepares and administers medications as directed by physician orders and in accordance with Kaiser Permanente guidelines.
6. Assists medical personnel with procedures and diagnostic exams.
7. Applies principles of aseptic technique and infection control as directed by the Infection Control Manual.
8. Establishes and maintains systems for patient test results and follow-up.
9. Provides basic information and assistance to patients under the direction of licensed personnel.
10. Documents pertinent patient information, nursing procedures, and patient responses, following guidelines and maintaining confidentiality.
11. Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with members, staff, and co-workers.
12. Performs other duties as directed.

Additional Requirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in medical assisting within the last five (5) years preferred.
• Computer and typing skills.

Notes:

• This position supports family medicine and other specialties in the building. It will rotate weekends.
• Must pass or have passed the bilingual test within the last 12 months, or be active in the QBS program.
