Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England in western Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a Bariatric Surgery Specialty Practice. You will coordinate patient flow, prepare exam rooms, and document patient information in the chart.

Requirements include a high school diploma and at least 6 months of related experience; an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance and national certification are preferred. Day shift, full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience.
• Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred; National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient flow in the office and collaborates with front desk staff to ensure timely visits.
• Prepares exam and treatment rooms and assists with patient readiness for examinations and minor procedures.
• Obtains patient history and vital signs; documents information in the medical record and acts as a scribe when needed.
• Processes lab/diagnostic results and ensures accurate documentation in patient charts.
• Assists with scheduling and other duties to support efficient patient care delivery.

You would be responsible for coordinating patient flow in office, preparing patients for office visits, escorting patient to treatment rooms, obtaining patient information for medical records, and documenting information in patients’ chart.

What You Will Do

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Ensures patient is given appropriate clothing in preparation for the expected physical exam or minor surgeries
• Obtains pertinent history, enters into the medical record including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems, and takes/documents patient vital signs. In treatment rooms, serves as a scribe between patient and physician, documenting all relevant information.
• Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes in patients’ chart after they have been reviewed by the physician. Assures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and other departments of diagnostic testing results.
• Coordinates patient flow in the office. Collaborates with receptionist to make certain that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner. Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required
• Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred, National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus

Pay Range

$18.00 - $26.10

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
