Practice Overview
We have an office at 4100 Lake Drive which is our larger office in Grand Rapids, and at 8333 Felch Street Suite 300 it is a multi-Specialty space within Zeeland Hospital. We have providers that flex to 6 other locations. Some locations we lease staff. We have staff that go to Health Pointe in Grand Haven and North Muskegon.
Medical Assistants take vitals, perform body composition analysis for certain appointments, reconcile medications in patients’ charts, and work with providers and nurses on incoming/outgoing messages to patients. They handle chart preparation, place lab orders, and pend them for providers to review/cosign. They also manage short-term disability and FMLA paperwork, clean rooms, stock supplies, and maintain various handouts. They answer phone calls and retrieve messages.
We hold surgical seminars several times during the week where groups of patients come in to learn about surgical options. The assigned Medical Assistant obtains vitals, collects health history forms, and enters data into the computer if the patient didn’t complete it electronically. They take patient photos during various visits, provide a drafted surgical checklist for surgeons to review with patients, process forms for record releases, create surgical consents, and prepare materials for patients at final decision and pre-op visits.
Office Culture
We have a close-knit culture where everyone works together to support each other. Our staff can freely ask any provider questions, and our surgeons typically thank the staff for their assistance at the end of each office day. We engage in team events throughout the year, often including staff spouses/significant others. We have high engagement scores and a committee that organizes team events and promotes belonging. Monthly education on diversity is provided during staff meetings, and our team recognizes each other at meetings and through 'WOWs'.
