Job summary

Center for Primary Care is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant - Back Office to support providers in delivering compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care. The role involves clinical and administrative duties, coordinating care, and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients and families.

The CMA will assist with exams, administer medications, manage specimens, and support patient education while adhering to infection prevention and privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School graduate or GED required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered MA, Certified MA, or current LPN required; BLS within 6 months.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of Medical Office experience.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems and healthcare terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits; obtain and document clinical information with compassion and respect.
  • Assist physicians and care team with examinations and procedures; maintain patient flow.
  • Administer medications and immunizations; collect specimens when needed.
  • Coordinate referrals, testing, and follow-up appointments; support care continuity.
  • Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and documentation per infection prevention and privacy rules.

Certified Medical Assistant - Back Office

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting providers in the delivery of compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care by performing clinical and administrative duties that promote health, wellbeing, and positive patient experiences. This role serves as an important member of the care team, fostering meaningful patient relationships, coordinating care, and contributing to a joyful, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, families, and coworkers.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Deliver exceptional patient experiences by preparing patients for visits, obtaining and documenting clinical information, and ensuring each patient is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and care team members to provide efficient, high-quality clinical care, assist with examinations and procedures, and maintain effective patient flow.
  • Perform clinical duties within certification and training requirements, including administering medications and immunizations, collecting specimens, conducting diagnostic testing, and reinforcing patient education and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate patient care activities, including referrals, diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, and communication that supports continuity of care and improved health outcomes.
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and documentation in compliance with infection prevention, safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements while supporting a positive and professional care environment.
  • Contribute to CPC's culture of joy, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement through active participation in training, quality initiatives, and organizational goals.

Requirements
Qualifications for Success:

Education, License/Certification, and Experience Requirements.

Education:

High School graduate or GED required.

Licensure/Certification:

Registered MA, Certified MA, or current LPN required. Basic Life Support or be able to obtain within 6 months.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Office experience.

  • Ability to accurately document information and effectively utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare technology.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, maintain attention to detail, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment.

Additional Job Details:

Work Setting: On-site.Well-lit medical office environment

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 7:45AM to 5:00PM, Thursday 7:45AM to 6:00PM, and Friday 7:45AM to 1:00PM. These hours are approximate based on clinic needs. Ability to work flexible and extended hours, as needed.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; rehires normal, correctable vision and hearing.

Compensation: Market competitive base pay, commensurate with education and experience.
