Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; completion of Medical Assistant program or current enrollment in healthcare program, or equivalent experience (1–3 years).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals.
  • Assist with minor clinical office procedures.
  • Performs standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing.
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed.
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies.
  • May complete general administrative duties including FMLA, Disability and Return to Work forms, EMR in-basket messages.
  • Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Responsibilities*

Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or GED.Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR current enrollment in, or completion of coursework in a healthcare professional program (e.g., medical school, PA program, nursing program, or related clinical training) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 - 3 years).Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic.

Work Locations

Ann Arbor The candidate selected for this position will be expected to provide onsite coverage at a clinic located in Lansing, Michigan, as needed. This may include occasional travel to the site to support operational needs, patient care, or staffing coverage. Flexibility and willingness to work in a dynamic clinical environment are essential.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
