Job summary

Essentia Health seeks an entry-level Clinical Assistant in Training to support direct patient care in ambulatory settings. The role operates under a preceptor, performing defined procedures as competencies develop, with duties across newborn to elderly patients and多 sites in Duluth.

The position is 0.8 FTE with potential remote/hybrid options, shifts starting early morning across multiple Duluth locations, and unionised environment with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• BCLS certification within 3 months.
• Enrolled in Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program—14 weeks.
• CCMA Certification within 6 months of apprentice completion or enrolled in Med Certs training program.
• LPNs cannot practice in this capacity.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care.
• Float to multiple Duluth clinics as needed.
• Care for patients ranging from newborn to elderly.
• Work under guidance of a Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor.

Job Description

Under the guidance of a Certified Medial Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor works at an entry-level, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. As an apprentice, the Clinical Assistant in Training will perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age-related category.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Duluth Clinic 2nd Street
• Duluth Clinic 3rd Street West
• Duluth Clinic Lakeside Clinic
• Lakewalk Clinic Hermantown Proctor
• Duluth Family Medical Clinic Superior Urgent Care

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months
• Enrolled in the Clinic Assistant Training Apprenticeship Program advancing through learning modules for 14 weeks as skills are acquired to perform the Clinical Assistant position.
• Upon completion of the apprentice program, NHA Board CCMA Certification is required within 6 months of completing the apprentice education program and the on the job hours requirement OR Enrolled in the Med Certs training program.
• LPNs cannot practice in this capacity.
