Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an entry-level Medical Assistant Apprentice to combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting.

The 22-week program matches apprentices to a primary care practice in the Greater Boston area with a goal to transition into a Medical Assistant role within the Mass General Brigham System upon successful completion.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Experience: Healthcare or customer service experience 0-1 year preferred

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain medical information and vital signs.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment.
• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records.
• Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
