Job summary

Mass General Brigham is offering an entry-level Medical Assistant Apprenticeship in the greater Boston area. This work-and-learn program combines classroom instruction with supervised clinical training in an ambulatory care setting.

The 22-week program runs 40 hours per week with on-site classrooms and hands-on practice. Upon completion, the goal is to transition into a Medical Assistant role within the Mass General Brigham system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 0-1 year healthcare or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers.
• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records.
• Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
• Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
