Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant – Apprentice (MA-A) to join the patient care team. The 12-15 month apprenticeship prepares you to take the CCMA exam and earns you 2000 hours of paid on-the-job training along with 364 hours of supplemental coursework.

You will learn hands-on clinical skills, the MA-C pathway, and participate in lab days with expert instructors to demonstrate mastery and log hours as required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• BLS/CPR required (or within 90 days of hire)
• Ambulatory or family medicine experience preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and computer skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits, obtain histories and vital signs
• Track and document clinical quality measures in the EHR
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and charting
• Administer medications and immunizations within MA-A scope of practice
• Coordinate referrals, labs, and specialty care
• Support providers seeing an average of 18-21 patients per day
• Provide excellent customer service using the AIDET model
