Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support across ambulatory surgical clinics. This full-time role includes patient prep, specimen handling, phlebotomy, and assistance to care providers.

The MA will also precept new staff, maintain patient confidentiality, and help manage clinic flow. Requires a Medical Assistant program credential and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• One year of experience in a direct health care role may substitute for graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for visits by directing them to the examining room and ensuring room readiness.
• Provides general office support including phone and fax management.
• Acts as preceptor for new staff, including orientation and skill validation.
• Maintains a safe and compliant work environment following regulations and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and secures patient information.
• Verifies patient information, history, vitals, and visit purpose; reports concerns.
• Assists providers during exams, prepares lab specimens, performs basic testing, and handles meds per policy.
• Balances workload and coordinates clinic flow with providers.
• Provides phlebotomy and completes lab test follow-up and medical record documentation.
• Prepares and finalizes medical records; supports MyChart enrollment; educates patients per provider guidance.
• Initiates referrals and insurance pre-authorizations as needed.
