Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical support and assist care providers with a wide range of patient care and administrative tasks in the HP Child Health Clinic.

The role includes patient preparation, phlebotomy, vital signs, specimen handling, and assisting with referrals and insurance pre-authorizations. The position is based in Aurora, CO, and requires BLS and Medical Assistant program completion.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for visits by directing them to the examining room and readying the room.
• Provides general office support including phone and fax management.
• Acts as preceptor for new staff with orientation and skills validation.
• Maintains safe, secure work environment in compliance with standards and regulations.
• Verifies patient information, records medical history, takes vital signs, and communicates concerns to care providers.
• Assists health care providers during exams, prepares lab specimens, performs basic testing, and handles medication administration per policy.
• Coordinates with providers to balance workloads and manage clinic flow; assists with referrals and insurance pre-authorizations.
