MedStar Health in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Clinical Office - Interventional Gastroenterology. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm, with duties spanning clinical and administrative tasks in an ambulatory setting under supervision.

The ideal candidate has 6 months of experience, excellent patient interaction, and will support exam preparation, venipuncture, vital signs, and EMR documentation across sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year (6 months) experience in ambulatory care required.
• For Cardiology offices: 6 months of ambulatory care experience or related degree may be required.
• Externship in a medical/ambulatory setting may substitute for the 6 months experience.

Responsabilités

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, quality and safety standards.
• Assists providers with patient preparation, examinations and education; supports patient flow and clerical tasks.
• Screens patients for preventive care needs and supports transitions of care and referrals.
• Performs selected patient and laboratory testing per scope of practice; documents in EMR.
• Provides telephone screening, scheduling and discharge assistance as needed.
• Floats to other sites within the system and participates in meetings and training as required.
