Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses by facilitating patient flow, assisting with care activities, and maintaining clean, safe exam rooms in our Chicago clinics.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and 0–2 years of relevant experience; ongoing certification within six months is expected, with strong computer skills and EMR experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; must have or be eligible for one of five eligible certifications.
• Certification must be attained within six months of employment.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• 0–2 years of experience in a relevant role.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient patient flow; escort to exam room, document vitals, and update patient information.
• Assist with medical and surgical procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection).
• Stock, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms; maintain inventory and equipment; perform opening/closing tasks.
• Interact professionally with patients and care team; participate in staff meetings.
• Perform delegated procedures per specialty addendum; support supervisors as needed.
