Required CMA/RMA certification, accredited MA program completion, HIPAA knowledge, and BLS certification; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:Coordinates patient care with physicians, assists physician with assessment, gives medication pursuant to physician order and assists with administrative duties that further patient care. Administers AIT, VIT and Biologic medications to patients per physician designated schedules. Coordinates patient care with physicians, assists physician with assessment, gives medication pursuant to physician order and assists with administrative duties that further patient care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Prepares exam and treatment rooms for examinations, escorts patients to applicable rooms, and assists physicians with examinations as necessary.Interviews patients, determines the reason for visit, measures vital signs, collects and records applicable encounter data.Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments.Performs patient education when appropriate.Completes appropriate documentation in patients' medical records.Performs allergy prick testing and/or intradermal testing as ordered by physician.Administers allergy/biologic/venom injections to shot patients as set forth on physician approved schedule.Able to perform PFTs (Pulmonary Function Test).Monitors patients' medical status for possible adverse reaction following receipt of allergy/biologic/venom injection.Prepares patients for nasal endoscopy.Maintains emergency equipment, including oxygen, code kit, suction, etc.Answers shot room and patient-related telephone calls and responds according to clinical protocol.Maintains shot room, shot room supply stock and biologic samplesAccurately and completely records pertinent medical information in patients' electronic charts.Operates medical equipment such as electrocardiograph (EKG), Holter monitor, bone densitometer (DXA), and other equipment to administer routine CLIA-waived laboratory diagnostic tests.Gives injections or treatments within scope of training and performs routine laboratory tests.Clears “jelly beans” from login account timely and accurately.Schedules consult and procedure appointments at outside and in-house offices; acquires precertification of applicable procedures and completes special medical and insurance forms.Assists providers with management and processing incoming and outgoing medical documents.Calls patients, pharmacies, and other physician offices to relay pertinent information.Generates telephone encounters as appropriate.Assists other MAs or departments within RDC during periods of low or completed personal workload.Works rotation at the Medical Message Desk and/or clinic lab performing CLIA-waived lab tests.Other duties as assigned.Orders serum and supplies, functions as a team lead among her colleagues, meets weekly with biologic representatives, and attends weekly collaboration meetings with Medico.Maintains daily tracking of every biologic patient in a detailed spreadsheet, creates and updates testing templates as clinic needs evolve, trains coworkers in the shot clinic, coordinates lunch coverage (as we do not close midday), and arranges staffing coverage when we are short.Performs monthly crash cart inventory, conducts biologics inventory twice per month, maintains sample stock.Updates NDC template with Updates for Medico staff to streamline claim processing, keeps biologic start and renewal paperwork current, communicates office closures to Medico.Minimum Job Qualifications:Proficiency in taking vital signs, administering injections, and performing phlebotomy.Previous experience administering, handling, or working with biologic medications preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.Education: Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.License/Certifications: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Language Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
