Job summary

Women’s Care in London, KY is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in exams, procedures, and patient care at a busy practice. The role includes room preparation, vital signs, phlebotomy, patient education, and HIPAA compliance.

You will work in a fast-paced clinic with emphasis on compassionate patient service. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, CMA eligibility or CMA certification, CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain), and experience in OB/GYN or primary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • CMA certification preferred or the ability to obtain CMA within first 120 days.
  • MA certification via accredited program or Armed Forces Medical Technician background is required/acceptable.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtainable within 30 days.
  • OBGYN or Primary Care experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in medical terminology and EMR data entry (eCW preferred).
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, providers and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing.
  • Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
  • Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
  • Measure, record, and document vital signs.
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per policies and procedures as directed.
  • Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and HIPAA regulations.
  • Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
  • Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
  • Represent the office professionally to all customers; be courteous and cooperative.
  • Participate in team activities and professional development; attend required meetings.
  • Demonstrate and embody Women’s Care mission and core values.
  • Compliance with HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Medical Assistant Duties
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • (FL Only) Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment.
  • To be eligible for employment and to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge.
  • Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training.
  • Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
  • Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
  • Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
  • Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
