Job summary

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Full-time Medical Assistant to support the HeartPlace team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This is a day-shift position with up to 50% travel, requiring a high school diploma and current MA certification.

You will take vital signs, input medications into EMR, perform EKGs, assist physicians, manage Holter monitor procedures, support tests, handle refills, and coordinate scheduling and insurance precertifications.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Current Medical Assistant certification.
• Current BCLS certification.
• EKG experience required.
• Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
• Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.).
• Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR; update as needed.
• Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and printouts; proficiency required.
• Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
• Holter monitor hook-ups/removals, event/loop recorders; proficiency required.
• Perform stress tests as needed and assist in interpretation.
• Handles pharmacy calls, reviews charts, and refills prescriptions.
• Monitors pharmacy samples and removes expired items.
• Receives and returns calls/messages; pulls patient charts when necessary.
• May coordinate insurance precertification and prior authorization.
• May move between locations as needed.

Description

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Full-time Medical Assistant Float to join our HeartPlace team in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.

Responsibilities

• Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
• Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
• Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts (Proficiency Required)
• Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
• Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
• Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
• Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
• Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
• Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
• Pulls patient charts when necessary.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
• May be required to move between locations as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or Texas accredited GED
• 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Current Medical Assistant certification.
• Current BCLS certification.
• EKG Experience required.
• Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.
• Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
