Job summary

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Float to join our HeartPlace team in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, inputting medications into EMR, performing EKGs, assisting physicians, handling Holter monitor hookups, and coordinating referrals and scheduling as needed.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year MA experience, current MA and BCLS certifications, and fluent English. Travel between locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or Texas-accredited GED.
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • EKG Experience required.
  • Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.
  • Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.

Responsibilities

  • Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.).
  • Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR; update as needed.
  • Performs EKG, rhythm strip, and printouts; proficiency required.
  • Assists physicians with patient exams.
  • Handles Holter monitor hook-ups/removals, event/Loop recorders; proficiency required.
  • Performs stress tests and assists in test interpretation.
  • Handles pharmacy calls, reviews charts, and processes refills.
  • Monitors pharmacy samples and removes expired stock.
  • Receives and returns calls and portal messages; retrieves patient charts.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May handle insurance precertification, prior authorizations, scheduling, and transfers.

Description

US Heart and Vascular is in need of a full-time Medical Assistant Float to join our HeartPlace team in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
  • Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
  • Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts (Proficiency Required)
  • Assists physicians with patient exams as needed.
  • Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
  • Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
  • Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
  • Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
  • Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
  • Pulls patient charts when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
  • May be required to move between locations as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Texas accredited GED
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • EKG Experience required.
  • Cardiology practice experience preferred but not required.
  • Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English.
