Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in exams, procedures, and patient care with a focus on clinical excellence.

You'll assist in sterile setups, injections, wound care, and coordinate tests and referrals while maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation in our fast-paced dermatology practice.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• 1+ year experience in a medical or clinical setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Strong patient communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable working in both clinical and procedural environments.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during exams, sterile field set-up, procedures, and surgical cases.
• Prepares/administers medications and injections per policy (5 Rights, expiry verification) and may process refill requests under provider direction.
• Prepare patients for treatment, including histories and consent documentation.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, injections, and suture removals.
• Prepare and stock exams rooms.
• Perform specimen handling and collection.
• Accurately document care, medications, test results, and procedures.
• Coordinate appointments, referrals, and testing.
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies; responds to in-clinic emergencies per protocol and documents per policy
• Uphold HIPAA, safety standards, and quality care protocols
• Performs proper infection control and biohazard waste disposal; supports CLIA-waived testing procedures as trained.
