Job summary

Balance Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and the care team in a fast-paced outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, assisting during procedures, maintaining accurate charts, and supporting front desk duties to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications include 1+ year MA experience, high school diploma, CPR certification, MA program certification or equivalent, strong organizational and communication skills, EMR proficiency,

Qualifications

  • 1+ year medical assistant experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification from American Heart Association.
  • MA program certification or equivalent training.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and adapt to technology changes.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Excellent communication with staff and patients.
  • Able to input data into information systems and use EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and escort to exam rooms.
  • Take vital signs and perform ancillary tests.
  • Assist providers during exams, treatments, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient files and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Prepare rooms and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Support front desk responsibilities as needed.
  • Coordinate patient services and explain processes to patients.
  • Work in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds as required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant works with the Physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties. The Medical Assistant also works to fulfill a variety of patient needs and ensures smooth patient flow within the department and help the with the front desk responsiblities.


Essential Functions


  • Greets patients on the phone and in person

  • Places patients in the exam rooms

  • Takes vital signs and perform ancillary tests appropriate to skill level

  • Assists and sets up for providers during examination, treatment, and procedures

  • Keeps accurate patient files

  • Applies dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by provider

  • Ensures rooms are stocked with necessary supplies

  • Maintains a sanitized and safe working environment

  • Maintains HIPAA

  • Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills

  • Performs other medical assistant duties as necessary

  • Assist with front desk responsiblities


Requirements

Required


  • 1+ years medical assistant experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification

  • Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of training

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision

  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies

  • Ability to adapt to advancement and changing technology

  • Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of staff

  • Basic typing skills to input various data into Information systems

  • Experience in an outpatient practice

  • Able to coordinate patient services, assist patients with office, medications and procedure authorizations and explain process to patients

  • Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR

  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office

  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice, which includes increasing work hours as needed to cover the practice needs

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
