Description

Job Summary

This position works on a clinical operations team providing clinical and clerical support to our providers while ensuring our patients have a safe and positive experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vitals and history, update electronic medical chart, and complete required paperwork as needed.
  • Prepare injections for clinical provider as directed.
  • Remove staples and/or casts as directed.
  • Removal/application of dressing as directed.
  • Obtaining/sending out cultures.
  • Assist providers with procedures.
  • Update and maintain patient medical records, including visit details, insurance, and contact information.
  • Service patient after visit with appropriate paperwork, schedule follow-up appointment, send out medical records as requested, and answer any patient inquiries.
  • Work closely with clinical team lead to ensure smooth patient flow in the operational areas.
  • Maintain exam rooms to appropriate regulatory standards.
  • Maintain fax machine, assist users, and retrieve and route incoming faxes.
  • Audit new patient charts.
  • Work as a team to replenish exam room and clinical supplies, including office supplies for designated area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications

  • Current Certification in Medical Assisting.
  • 2+ years experience in high volume medical office rooming patients.
  • EMR knowledge required, MEDENT preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Extensive standing and walking required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards/physical risk.
  • Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.

We have multiple locations throughout the Western New York region and a free-standing ambulatory surgery center, Buffalo Surgery Center. Excelsior Orthopaedics offers a suite of in-house services including general orthopaedic evaluation and treatment, podiatry, physical & occupational therapy, nutrition counseling, sports training, outreach athletic training, orthopaedic express care, imaging, durable medical equipment, and an outpatient total joint program. The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.
