Job summary

Health Partners of Western Ohio is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team and support providers with direct patient care. You’ll perform hands-on clinical tasks, patient education, and teamwork to ensure high-quality care in a fast-paced setting.

You will work 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts at Riverside Community Health Center in Toledo, traveling to other locations as needed and supporting clinical operations with a positive, patient-centered

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• CPR – BLS certification preferred.
• Direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
• Performs routine specialized procedures, such as HIV screenings, fluoride varnish application and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
• Completes patient health screenings including hearing, vision, and all CLIA waived testing.
• Administers injections after appropriate training.
• Administers immunizations and medications that are not controlled substances.
• Maintains stock of medical supplies as necessary.
• Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
• Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
• Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
• May recruit patients for studies and may participate in outreach clinical activities as required.
• Performs patient education and discharge instructions.
• Completes referrals and schedules tests for patients.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required.
