Job summary

Health Partners of Western Ohio is seeking a Medical Assistant Float for the Lima and Kenton area. This is a full-time position during the School Year August through May but paid all year round; all school-based employees receive 90% of a full-time rate.

The schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. The Medical Assistant will provide initial patient intake, assist with direct patient care, and perform routine clinical procedures under established protocols, including immunizations and

Medical Assistant Float - Lima & Kenton Area This is a full-time position during the School Year August through May but paid all year round. All school-based employees receive 90% of a full-time rate. (Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm) POSITION PURPOSE: Under general supervision in a patient centered medical home setting, the Medical Assistant provides initial patient intake, assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: HS Diploma or GED required REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Successful completion of in-house training. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 1 year of directly related experience preferred. SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• CPR BLS required
• Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
• Ability to perform routine invasive procedures, such as HIV testing, in accordance with established clinical protocol.
• Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
• Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment within established parameters.
• Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
• Knowledge of outpatient clinical administrative procedures.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
• Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.

• Performs routine specialized procedures, such HIV screenings, fluoride varnish application and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
• Completes patient health screenings including hearing, vision, and all CLIA waived testing.
• Administers immunizations and medications that are not controlled substances.
• Maintains stock of medical supplies as necessary.
• Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
• Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
• Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
• May recruit patients for studies and may participate in outreach clinical activities as required.
• Performs patient education and discharge instructions.
• Completes referrals and schedules tests for patients.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required.
