Become a part of our caring community The Medical Assistant 2 is responsible for performing a variety of duties in medical practice. As a Medical Assistant 2, you will be responsible for both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. You will provide information to patients so they may use and benefit from the clinical service. You will report to a Supervisor, Center Administration.

Role Responsibilities
  • Process incoming and outgoing calls/messages.
  • Perform patient intake, obtain necessary patient information to file, and update patient records.
  • Ensure consents are reviewed and completed by clinicians.
  • Perform pre-encounter prep before patients' visits, including identifying open care gaps.
  • Gather patient data through interviews and observations.
  • Assist the clinician during medical treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examination, perform and documents vital signs, and record patients' health history and medication reconciliation.
  • Perform responsibilities and skills consistent with a trained certified medical assistant/registered medical assistant
  • Prepare and sanitize equipment, examination rooms and instruments.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
  • Embrace and participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and collaborate on clinical process improvement activities.
  • Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication per clinician order within scope.
  • Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education per organizational policies.
  • Assist the clinician by being a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule appointments; provide patient with scheduling information to obtain testing, and/or clinician consultation.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills as defined annually.

  • Active and unrestricted Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider Certification within 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Primary Care setting
  • Experience working with Athena
Annual Requirements
  • Must maintain current license, certification, or registration.
  • Must complete required CEUs for licensure/certification.
  • Must maintain current BLS certification.
  • EMR and Clinical competencies completed and signed as assigned.
  • Participate in annual clinical checkoffs for new and annual training.

This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
