Job summary

Optimus Health Care in Stamford, CT is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join a patient-centered team. The MA will work with providers and nurses to ensure smooth patient flow, utilize Epic EMR, and support exam readiness, room preparation, and administrative duties.

The ideal candidate has an accredited MA program, clinical experience, knowledge of EMR systems, and bilingual abilities (Spanish-English or English-Creole). CPR certification is preferred and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic) helpful.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers health questionnaires and prepares patients for exam.
• Acts as chaperone during intimate exams with clinician.
• Updates patient information in Epic (EMR).
• Manages in-basket messages and assists with scheduling tests and treatments.
• Maintains infection control and safety guidelines.
• Provides language interpretation support when needed.

We are currently recruiting for aFull Time Medical Assistantto join ourteam in Stamford, CT

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant is a member of the patient centered medical home (PCMH) care team responsible for working with providers, nurses, and other front office staff to ensure the complete and timely patient flow process. This individual exhibits sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and must maintain strict confidentiality. The Medical Assistant administers health questionnaire to patients; Act as a chaperone by accompanying the clinician in the exam room for any intimate exam; Update patient information in Epic (EMR system); Manage in-basket messages; Takes patient history & vital signs; Prepares patients for exam & treatment; Prepares exam rooms w/ necessary equipment & supplies; Assists with scheduling of tests & treatments; Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines, and confidentiality and privacy policies; Maintain competency in the use of clinical equipment and procedure; Connect language interpretation service for the clinician when needed; Assists with administrative tasks as needed; Explores community resources available to meet the patient’s needs; Maintain ongoing networking efforts w/community providers in the area; Perform other related duties as needed.

Job Qualification/Requirements:

Professional positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully accomplish tasks necessary to meet high standards of ethical and social responsibility required by this position.

Education: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.

Experience: Experience in a clinical setting, preferred Familiarity working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) helpful.

Language Skills:Bilingual: Spanish-English or English/Creole preferred; Demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology

Licensure / Certification: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring Certification, a plus. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually
