Baptist Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at BHMG Primary Care Highpoint Court in Mt. Washington, KY. The MA provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic, including vital signs, history taking, medication reconciliation, and EPIC EMR management.

The role may include performing EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and coordinating tests as competency is achieved. Candidates should have 1+ year of MA experience or completion of an accredited MA program, and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or MA program graduate.
• 1+ year MA experience with direct patient care preferred; clinical procedures optional.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus.
• BLS within 90 days of hire; BAT/DOT per occupational medicine role.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers.

Full-Time Medical Assistant

The MA will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
