Job summary

Houman Farzin MD Inc. dba Mystic Health is a Santa Monica clinic and research center specializing in psychedelic-assisted therapy, integrative medicine, palliative care, psychiatry, and psychotherapy. We offer a variety of insurance-covered, research-sponsored, and cash-pay treatments, including Spravato (Esketamine), ketamine, peri-operative optimization, acupuncture, and mindfulness. We pair evidence-based treatments with wraparound care, preparation, and aftercare so that every patient is supported before, during, and after treatment.

Dr. Houman Farzin leads Mystic Health and is a physician recognized for his work in psychedelic-assisted therapy, palliative care, integrative oncology, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine. Dr. Farzin is an attending physician in the Division of Palliative Care at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal and an assistant professor at McGill University Faculty of Medicine. Under his leadership, Mystic Health combines emerging treatments and digital health tools to improve quality of life and relieve suffering at every stage of life.

The Role

We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Santa Monica team. This is not a typical MA position. You will support clinical operations and hands-on patient care, and you will also be the primary point of contact for our patients: confirming appointments, sending reminders, coordinating follow-ups, and checking in after treatment so that every patient feels informed and supported.

We are a growing, tech-enabled mental health practice, so you will also have the chance to shape how the clinic runs. That includes helping build patient engagement tools, supporting communications, and collaborating with our marketing team when needed. What You Will Do

Clinical & Research Support

• Assist clinicians in delivering Spravato, ketamine-assisted therapy, and related treatments in line with clinic/research protocols and applicable regulations.
• Complete pre-treatment assessments, including medical histories, vital signs, and mental health screenings.
• Prepare treatment rooms and equipment so every session takes place in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
• Monitor patients during sessions, offer reassurance and support, and document observations and treatment progress accurately.
• Work with therapists and the wider care team to support individualized treatment plans and coordinate care.

Patient Communication and Follow-Up

• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients before, during, and after treatment.
• Schedule appointments, confirm visits, send reminders, and coordinate post-treatment check-ins.
• Educate patients on the treatment process, potential benefits and risks, and strategies for integration after sessions.
• Build trust and continuity of care that strengthens patient outcomes and long-term engagement.

Clinic Operations

• Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential patient records in our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Order, track, and organize medical and office supplies.
• Ensure compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and healthcare regulations governing psychedelic-assisted therapy.
• Support cross-functional initiatives such as communications, content preparation, or marketing tasks as the practice scales.

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) is strongly preferred.

Work Arrangement

This role is currently in-person with some hybrid flexibility. Certain tasks can be completed remotely, but in-person availability at our Santa Monica clinic during regular operating hours is required.
