Job summary

US Foot & Ankle Specialists seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to support physicians in a fast-paced podiatry practice in San Antonio, TX. You will welcome patients, take vitals, and assist with procedures, X‑rays, dressings, and patient education while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

You will travel between local office locations as needed, manage insurance verifications, pre-authorizations, and back-office tasks. The role demands strong communication, teamwork, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or 1+ year clinical experience.
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred.
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; multitasking in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and procedures.
  • Take vitals, update histories, document in EMR, record meds/alle rgies.
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, X-ray and podiatric services.
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education.
  • Manage lab specimens, insurance verifications, pre-authorizations, prescriptions.
  • Make post-operative calls and provide excellent customer service.
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and HIPAA compliance; support back-office ops.
  • Work Monday–Friday and one Saturday per month.

Strash Foot & Ankle Care, a division of US Foot & Ankle Specialists, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant who provides essential clinical and administrative support to physicians, staff, and patients in a fast-paced podiatry practice. This role assists with a variety of in-office procedures while helping deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Schedule:

  • Part-time position
  • Monday–Friday
  • One Saturday per month as part of the regular schedule

Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post‑op care, digital X‑rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
  • Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre‑authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
  • Make post‑operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, support back‑office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Monday- Friday and one Saturday a month

Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced clinic environment
  • Detail‑oriented, professional, and patient‑focused
  • Ability to travel between local office locations, as needed
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
