Job summary

Ankle & Foot Centers of America is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the clinic and back office. You will prepare patients for examinations, take vitals, enter medical history into the Epic system, and assist with procedures.

You will escort patients, handle scheduling, and ensure OSHA/HIPAA compliance while supporting front office staff and performing routine administrative tasks. Light travel and flexible teamwork may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience, certification, and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals and recording medical history in Epic.
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms.
  • Complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedules surgeries by coordinating with surgical centers, verifying times, and preparing charts and consent forms.
  • Assists the physician with procedures.
  • Administers injections as directed by the physician.
  • Creates casts for orthotics and applies below-knee casts.
  • Applies strapping to feet and Unna boots.
  • Performs nail debridement and callus/corn debridement.
  • Administers dressing changes and performs X-rays.
  • Documents phone calls, returns patient messages, and completes in-baskets.
  • Updates logs and other documentation duties.

Job Summary

A podiatry medical assistant specializes in ankle and foot care. Medical assistants keep the office running efficiently and perform many tasks. Responsibilities may include ordering, sorting, storing supplies and restocking exam rooms; cleaning exam areas, setting up instruments, and cleaning the sterilizer; greeting patients, answering phones, performing data entry and scheduling appointments; assisting front office staff and manual insurance verifications; and any other duties as determined by management.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals and recording medical history into Epic
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms
  • Complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
  • Schedules surgeries by coordinating with surgical centers, verifying times, and preparing charts and consent forms
  • Assists the physician with procedures
  • Administers injections as directed by the physician
  • Creates casts for orthotics and applies below‑knee casts
  • Applies low‑dye strapping to feet and Unna boots
  • Performs nail debridement and callus/corn debridement
  • Administers dressing changes and performs X‑rays
  • Documents phone calls, returns patient messages, and completes in‑baskets
  • Updates logs and other documentation duties
Qualifications

Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: At least one year of experience, Medical Assistant Certification, and Epic experience.

Physical and Work Requirements

Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, standing and walking for up to 20 minutes at a time, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 pounds. The role requires computer use, typing, and frequent verbal communication with patients and staff. Assistants must help room and clean supplies, manage inventory, and handle tasks such as lifting and moving equipment, patient transfers, and casting or bandage application as needed.

Additional Information

Light travel to other offices may be required for business needs.
