Job summary

University Health – Westgate Primary Care in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant for full-time day shift. The role provides indirect and direct patient care under the supervision of the provider and licensed nurse, and performs clerical duties to support efficient clinic operations.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a Medical Assistant diploma or certification, and current BLS certification; national MA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant diploma/certificate from accredited program required.
• National MA certification preferred.
• Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or BLS Instructor Provider card required.
• One year of clinic/ambulatory setting experience is desirable but not required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED is required. Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for medical assistants is required. National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card. One-year experience in a clinic, doctor’s office or ambulatory setting is desirable, but not required.
